Morocco gives you considerable control over that total. Staying in a modest riad and eating simple restaurant meals produces a different bill from booking suites, rooftop dinners and private transfers. Your room choice and the distances you cover usually deserve more attention than small savings on tea or bottled water.
The estimates below model spring or autumn travel around cities such as Marrakech and Fes, outside major holiday peaks. They are planning allowances built from current price examples; your final bookings determine the bill.
These three profiles assume two adults sharing one private room. Economical travel combines simple accommodation, modest meals and public transport. Comfortable travel allows more choice of riads and restaurants. Higher comfort adds upgraded rooms and more transfers; a trip with a private driver throughout needs its own quotation.
| Budget item | Economical | Comfortable | Higher comfort |
|---|---|---|---|
| Room and local-tax allowance, per person per night | $25–35 | $40–70 | $85–145 |
| Food and nonalcoholic drinks, per person per day | $15–25 | $25–40 | $45–75 |
| Local and intercity transport allowance, per person per day | $5–10 | $10–20 | $20–40 |
| Sightseeing allowance, per person per day | $5–10 | $10–20 | $20–35 |
| One day plus one night, per person | $50–80 | $85–150 | $170–295 |
Transport and sightseeing are amounts spread across the trip: you might spend little on a walking day and more on a transfer or paid visit. The model assumes breakfast is generally included with accommodation. Add it where your booking excludes it.
Mobile data is a separate $20 allowance per person for the trip. Flights, visa costs, travel insurance, alcohol, shopping, optional tips and multi-day tours sit outside the model. Keep a separate contingency for changes to your plans.
Local price examples were checked on 9 October 2026. Approximate MAD-to-USD equivalents use $1 ≈ MAD 9.9, rounded from the previous day's market rate. Your bank or exchange provider may apply a different rate and fees; supplier prices quoted in euros retain their original currency below.

Accommodation is the clearest place to see why the traveler unit matters. A $100 double room costs $50 each when shared by two people, before any separately charged tax. Staying alone in that same room means paying the full $100.
Riad prices also cover a broad range of comfort. In Marrakech, Riad Vert's standard rooms start at €69 per night, with breakfast. Riad Irene's published autumn rates include €60 for its Tan-Tan room and €75 for its Marrakech room, with breakfast for two; local taxes are extra.
Fes provides another useful comparison. Riad Fes Baraka advertises its small Chaouen double room from €44 per night, including breakfast. Riad Laaroussa lists double rooms from MAD 1,200, roughly $121, with breakfast and a separate local tourism tax.
These are examples of different properties and room categories, checked on 9 October 2026. Undated “from” prices are starting rates, so use a quotation for your actual nights before committing to a budget.
Allow room for taxes when comparing offers. Riad Irene quotes MAD 25.30 per person per night in tourist and local taxes; Riad Laaroussa quotes MAD 30 for guests aged 12 and over. These are property-specific charges. The nightly allowances in our model include space for local taxes; use your hotel's disclosed amount in your final calculation.
Comfortable sightseeing weather can coincide with higher room rates. Riad Irene classifies September through 18 December 2026 as high season, while Riad Helen prices its Tlata room at €115 during October and November, compared with €100 during its early-December mid-season window. Breakfast is included in both Helen rates; tourist taxes are additional.
That makes timing a practical budget decision. Compare nearby dates and use the regional weather guidance in our best time to visit Morocco guide before choosing a cheaper period.
Solo travelers using a private room should replace the shared accommodation allowance with the full room quotation. Food and individual entrance fees stay per person, while a private transfer may also become more expensive per traveler. Hostel dorms offer another way to reduce accommodation spending, but they are outside this private-room comparison.
Morocco's restaurant prices vary substantially even within one city. Marrakech menus illustrate the difference:
| Restaurant example | Dish | Listed price |
|---|---|---|
| Hôtel Majorelle restaurant | Chicken tagine with lemon | MAD 60, about $6 |
| Votre Table | Chicken tagine with lemon and olives | MAD 95, about $10 |
| Azar | Chicken tagine | MAD 240, about $24 |
Menu prices checked on 9 October 2026. Each amount covers the named dish; drinks, additional courses and any separately disclosed charges increase the meal total.
The economical food allowance works best with straightforward meals and breakfast included at your riad. The comfortable allowance leaves more room for café stops and varied restaurants. Regular multi-course dinners require a larger allocation.
Decide how often you want an expensive restaurant experience. One planned dinner is easier to accommodate than treating every evening as a special occasion, particularly over a two-week trip.
Set your route before finalizing the transport budget. Airport transfers, station journeys and intercity tickets all accumulate as you add stops. Staying longer in fewer places lets you spread those transfers over more days.
The daily transport figures above are budget allocations, not quoted train, coach or taxi fares. They cover a modest number of intercity journeys alongside local transport. Replace them with the actual ticket and transfer totals once your itinerary is settled.
Private transfers need a clear unit. Riad Irene, for example, offers an airport transfer for MAD 140 for two people, rising to MAD 150 after 8 p.m. That is the property's service price, not a citywide taxi tariff. Divided between two guests, the earlier transfer is MAD 70 each.
Before accepting a taxi, porter or guide service, establish what the quoted amount covers and whether it is per person or for the group. Our guide to common tourist scams in Morocco explains situations where an unclear agreement can become a payment dispute.

Shared Merzouga tours can bundle several large expenses into one price. One checked three-day Marrakech–Merzouga tour starts at €95 per person, including shared minibus transport, two nights of accommodation, two breakfasts, two dinners and camel rides.
Lunches, extra drinks, optional activities and tips sit outside that price. The same operator suggests €8–13 per lunch and quotes a €10 solo supplement covering both nights. Camp upgrades cost extra.
Treat the tour as a replacement for the relevant part of your itinerary:
Remove the two hotel nights that the tour replaces, including their separate tax allowances where those nights are no longer booked.
Remove transport and sightseeing allocations already covered by the tour.
Remove the dinners included in the package from your food calculation.
Add the tour price, excluded meals, drinks, supplements and selected extras.
Breakfast needs particular care: if it was included in your original hotel rate, removing that hotel night already removes its cost. Do not deduct it again from the food budget.
The night after returning to Marrakech remains part of your accommodation budget. If you keep your city room while away in the desert, those retained nights remain payable too. This is why simply adding a tour price to seven fully costed city days can overstate the trip total.
Paid attractions can make a noticeable difference to an otherwise inexpensive day. In Casablanca, the standard Hassan II Mosque guided visit costs MAD 140 for a foreign adult, approximately $14. Leave enough in your sightseeing allocation for the visits you actually want, instead of assuming every day will involve only free walks.
Internet is easier to budget as one purchase for the trip. Comparing internet options in Morocco helps you decide how much you will rely on accommodation Wi-Fi and what mobile connection you need while out.
Roafly's Morocco eSIM includes a 10 GB, 30-day plan at $19.90, checked on 9 October 2026. That fits the model's rounded $20 allocation for each person with a compatible phone. The plans are data-only, with hotspot and top-ups supported.
If you are weighing different providers or allowances, compare Morocco eSIM plans before selecting the amount of data you need.
Your total budget and the cash you carry are separate decisions. Some accommodation and transport costs may already be paid before arrival. Plan withdrawals around the remaining expenses, using our guide to cash, cards and ATM fees in Morocco to account for payment costs without withdrawing the entire trip budget at once.
The following totals use the comfortable column above: $40–70 per person per night for accommodation and local taxes, $45–80 per person per day for food, transport and sightseeing, plus $20 per person for mobile data.
| Trip length | Per person, sharing a room | Total for two adults |
|---|---|---|
| 7 days / 6 nights | $575–1,000 | $1,150–2,000 |
| 10 days / 9 nights | $830–1,450 | $1,660–2,900 |
| 14 days / 13 nights | $1,170–2,050 | $2,340–4,100 |
These are calculated planning totals using the stated allowances, with the same exclusions as the daily model. Apply the replacement method above if a multi-day tour forms part of your trip.
The seven-day lower estimate, for example, is 6 × $40 for nights + 7 × $45 for daily spending + $20 for data = $575 per person. Counting nights separately also makes the calculation easy to adjust for an extra overnight stay or a late departure.
Compare room totals with breakfast and taxes included. Small differences in the advertised room rate can disappear once extras are added.
Reduce unnecessary changes of base. Fewer transfers leave more of your budget for accommodation, meals and activities you value.
Mix simple meals with selected restaurant experiences. Use the food allowance across the trip instead of treating it as a target to spend every day.
Choose your desert package by its inclusions. Room arrangements, bathrooms, meals and transfers determine what remains to be paid.
Give shopping and upgrades their own allowance. Keeping them separate makes it easier to protect the money reserved for the rest of your stay.
