Islamabad International Airport has a Zong sales and customer-service kiosk, launched in April 2026. It is worth visiting if you need a Pakistani number and have time for registration; an eSIM prepared before departure is more practical when your priority is getting online for the journey to your hotel.
| Option | What it offers | Cost to plan for | Best fit |
|---|---|---|---|
| Zong airport kiosk | SIM sales, activation assistance and customer support | Current airport price not reliably published | Arrivals who need a local number and can complete registration at the desk |
| Zong customer service center in Islamabad | An established route for foreign-passport registration | New-SIM charges plus your selected bundle | Visitors who can buy during city-store hours |
| Roafly Pakistan eSIM | Prepaid mobile data without visiting a shop | From US$3.90 for 1 GB / 7 days | Compatible, unlocked phones needing arrival data |
| Airport Wi-Fi | Internet access inside the airport | Free | Sending a message or opening a booking before leaving |
Checked on 4 November 2026 using Zong’s airport and service information, Roafly’s Pakistan plans and airport amenity information. Airport SIM totals and online data-plan prices are different purchase types.
Zong opened its Islamabad Airport sales kiosk in partnership with the Pakistan Airports Authority on 16 April 2026. You can now look for a Zong sales point at the airport before arranging a separate city-store visit.
Ask airport staff for the kiosk’s current location and whether you can reach it from your arrival route. Hours not reliably published: plan a separate connection for an overnight arrival rather than relying on a staffed counter.
If you are registering with a foreign passport, show your documents first and ask whether the desk can complete that registration during your visit. If staff direct you to a customer service center, use the city option below. That is the point to settle before choosing a bundle or paying.
Foreign visitors buying a Zong SIM need to attend in person. Under Zong’s foreign-customer registration process, the core documents and information are:
Your original, valid passport.
A valid Pakistani visa or Pakistan Origin Card, as applicable.
Your FIA entry stamp and the required signed customer application form.
Staff also take document copies or scans and a thumb impression. Keep your visa approval accessible offline so you can show it without first needing mobile data.
Zong allows a maximum of two SIMs for an individual under its foreigner/POC process, with SIM validity tied to the visa or POC. If you need service beyond that document’s validity, resolve the registration extension with the operator.
Buy the connection in your own name and retain the receipt. Before leaving the counter, switch off Wi-Fi and open a webpage to test mobile data; if you bought a voice bundle, also check that calling works and save your new number.
Get one itemized total covering the SIM or starter connection, the selected package, any activation or service charge, and applicable taxes. Ask how much usable data you receive, when the package expires and whether the allowance has app-specific or time-of-day restrictions.
Zong’s Monthly Super Card provides a national price reference: PKR 1,700 on 4 November 2026. It included 10 GB, 300 other-network minutes, and Zong calls and SMS subject to a 5,000-minute and 5,000-message fair-use limit, with monthly validity.
That is a bundle price for an eligible Zong prepaid line, not an Islamabad Airport starter-SIM total. Use it to understand the package component of a quote; the amount payable for a new connection can include other items.
Settle the payment method before registration begins, particularly if you intend to use a foreign bank card. Ask for a receipt showing the package purchased and have staff explain how to view the remaining allowance.
The broader Pakistan tourist SIM guide covers local-provider choices and buying outside the airport.
Zong’s customer service center at Red Co. Plaza, Jinnah Avenue, Blue Area, Islamabad is a useful fallback for foreign-passport registration. Its published hours are 9 am–6 pm Monday to Saturday, with a Friday break from 1 pm–3 pm and Sunday closure.
If you are staying in Rawalpindi, Zong also lists a center at 13/14, 59-A, Riaz Plaza, Bank Road, Saddar. Its published hours are 9 am–7 pm Monday to Saturday, with the same Friday break and Sunday closure.
These are city-center hours, not airport-kiosk hours. Use the Zong service-center directory when arranging the visit, especially around public holidays.
The city route makes sense if you need a local number for the rest of your stay and can fit the visit around your plans. Consider the journey and time involved as part of the purchase: a modest saving on a SIM can disappear if you make a separate taxi trip just to buy it.
You can install a Roafly Pakistan eSIM before flying and avoid a SIM-shop visit for data. Your phone must support eSIM and be unlocked for use with another provider.
At the 4 November 2026 price check, 5 GB for 30 days cost US$9.90, while 10 GB for 30 days cost US$16. Plans are data-only, with no Pakistani phone number, standard calls or SMS. Hotspot uses your purchased allowance, and top-ups are supported.
This suits a short visit centered on maps, messaging and online bookings. If you also need a local number, use arrival data while arranging a registered local SIM later.

Install over a stable connection before departure and follow the plan’s activation instructions. On arrival, select the eSIM for mobile data and apply its roaming settings; keep data roaming disabled on your home SIM unless you intend to use your home operator’s roaming package.

ISB has free Wi-Fi. Ask an airport information desk for the current network and sign-in assistance if the login page prevents you from connecting.
Use the connection to send your arrival message, open the hotel booking and agree on a meeting point with your driver. Save those details before leaving the terminal, because airport Wi-Fi will not provide connectivity during the drive.
Keep the hotel address, driver’s name and contact number, and a map of the immediate destination available offline. Agree on a meeting point before flying so the pickup can still work if your phone takes longer than expected to connect. Our Pakistan safety guide covers wider arrival and travel precautions.
If you plan to rely on a mixture of hotel Wi-Fi, roaming and mobile data, compare the practical trade-offs in how to get internet in Pakistan.
Registering the SIM identifies the subscriber. Pakistan’s DIRBS system deals with the handset’s IMEI, which matters when using an imported phone on a local connection.
Eligible overseas Pakistanis and foreign visitors can apply for temporary registration of one handset for up to 120 days per visit. The process uses travel details, the device’s IMEI number or numbers, and a local SIM issued in the applicant’s own name. A later visit requires a new application.
If you will use a Pakistani SIM in a phone brought from abroad, include the handset’s registration status in your setup checks. Our guide to Pakistan’s phone-registration and customs rules explains the wider arrival requirements.
Can I buy a local Zong eSIM instead of a physical SIM?
Zong offers local eSIMs through customer service centers and franchises, with in-person verification before activation. Ask the airport desk whether it can handle that service; the national eSIM service does not establish availability at every kiosk.
Do I need a Pakistani number to keep using WhatsApp?
You can keep your existing WhatsApp account while using another SIM or eSIM for internet access. Keep access to your original number in case WhatsApp later requests account verification.
Should I buy at the airport or wait until the next day?
Use the airport desk if it can register you and the full quote suits your needs. If you already have arrival data, go to your accommodation and arrange a city-store visit during opening hours when a local number will be useful.
