1. Red Channel vs. Green Channel (The QR Code Rule)
Indonesia has moved to a fully digital system. The old paper forms are gone.

Mandatory Step: You MUST fill out the Electronic Customs Declaration (e-CD) before you land or immediately upon arrival.

The Process: Once you complete the form online, you will get a QR Code. You must scan this at the customs exit.

Green Channel: If you have nothing to declare (and your QR code reflects this), you scan and go. Random x-ray checks are frequent.

Red Channel: If you have goods exceeding limits, alcohol, or unaccompanied baggage, you must go here.
Strict Warning: If you do not have your QR code ready, you will be sent to the back of a very long queue to fill it out on your phone (if you can find Wi-Fi).
