When a local Indonesian SIM is worth considering

The IMEI distinction concerns local service and international roaming. Foreign SIMs used for international roaming are exempt from the customs IMEI registration process. Foreign tourists using an Indonesian SIM can arrange registration through a local operator for access lasting up to 90 days, under Indonesia’s visitor IMEI rules. Choosing a digital SIM instead of a plastic card does not itself create an exemption.
