Landing at Buenos Aires Ezeiza Airport with mobile data makes it easier to find your pickup, contact your accommodation and continue your trip. The key local detail is activation: buying a prepaid SIM from a kiosk may still leave you needing an operator store.

Personal is the physical SIM option identified at Ezeiza in Argentina’s official tourism guidance, but current counter hours and an all-in airport price are not reliably published. Buying there can suit visitors who need a local line and have time for registration; an eSIM prepared before departure is more practical when getting online quickly is the priority.
Keep Ezeiza (EZE) separate from Aeroparque Jorge Newbery (AEP): they are different Buenos Aires airports, and information about SIM sellers at one should not be used for the other.
| Option | Where to arrange it | Price information | Best fit |
|---|---|---|---|
| Personal physical SIM | Reported airport stand in the departures area | Current airport price not reliably published | Visitors seeking an Argentine line with staff-assisted setup |
| City-store SIM | Official operator store after reaching Buenos Aires | Depends on the SIM and selected package | Visitors who can wait and want to compare local offers |
| Roafly eSIM | Online before travel or over an internet connection | Plans start at US$4.90 for 1 GB over 7 days | Compatible-phone users who want data without a shop visit |
| Airport Wi-Fi | Inside Ezeiza Airport | Free | Sending an arrival message or accessing pickup details |
Information checked on 22 October 2026. Personal’s airport presence is described in Argentina’s official tourism guidance; the Roafly amount is an online plan price, not an airport-counter quote.
The official Argentina visitor guide places the Personal stand in departures, near check-in counter 40. Treat that as a starting point for asking directions: the current desk position and terminal designation have not been independently confirmed against an up-to-date airport shop listing.
After completing arrival formalities, ask an information desk where you can buy and activate a Personal tourist SIM. The reported location is in the check-in area, rather than a verified shop inside the international arrivals hall; do not assume you will pass it beside baggage reclaim or can reach it while remaining in an airside connection.
Hours not reliably published. If you arrive late, have a tight onward connection or already have a driver waiting, prepare another way to get online.
Personal’s tourist activation instructions distinguish its official points of sale from kiosks and drugstores. SIMs bought through official points of sale are supplied with an active line; customers buying through a kiosk are directed to an official point for activation, with their DNI or passport ready.
That distinction matters more than simply finding a shop with a Personal logo. Before paying, establish whether the seller can complete registration for a foreign passport holder during that visit.
Bring:
Your passport for the tourist registration process.
An unlocked phone with a physical SIM slot if you are buying a plastic SIM.
A payment card. The tourism guidance describes card payment as usual at the airport stand, so do not rely solely on cash.
Once setup is complete, turn off Wi-Fi and open a webpage using mobile data. Keep the SIM packaging, your new number and the receipt together so you can manage the line later.
Ask for one complete total covering the SIM, initial data package and any activation or service charge. Then establish the data allowance, expiry date, and whether calls or SMS are included.
Useful questions at the counter are:
“¿Cuál es el precio total, incluido el chip y el paquete de datos?” — What is the total price, including the SIM and data package?
“¿Pueden activar la línea con mi pasaporte?” — Can you activate the line with my passport?
“¿Cuántos gigas incluye y cuándo vence?” — How much data is included, and when does it expire?
Online recharge prices can apply to an existing line, so they are not necessarily the amount a new visitor pays to leave the airport connected. Compare the complete offer with your trip length instead of judging it by the SIM’s sticker price alone.
Waiting until the city makes sense if you already have arrival connectivity and want to compare operators or obtain a local number for a longer stay. Personal, Claro and Movistar are options to investigate through their official stores; this does not establish that all three have staffed sales counters at EZE.
Claro offers a tourist physical SIM with passport-based activation. It is a city alternative worth considering, rather than a reason to search the airport for an unverified Claro booth.
The practical benefit of an official store is help with the purchase and registration in one visit. Our guide to buying a tourist SIM in Argentina covers the wider local options, plans and buying process.
Waiting is less attractive if you need mobile data during the transfer or will head straight to another destination. In that case, arrange a connection before leaving EZE and compare longer-stay options later.
Roafly’s Argentina eSIM lets you prepare mobile data before the flight without depending on an airport shop’s stock or opening hours. It requires an unlocked, eSIM-compatible device and provides data only, without an Argentine phone number or conventional calls and SMS.
Argentina plans list Movistar and Personal, with 4G/5G access where available. Hotspot uses your purchased allowance, and top-ups are supported. Network availability depends on your location and device; save useful maps offline before heading into remote areas.
Install over a reliable internet connection and follow the setup instructions before departure. Set the eSIM as your mobile-data line on arrival, enable roaming for that eSIM as instructed, and disable data roaming on your home line if you want to avoid home-carrier data charges.

If you are still deciding on allowance and provider, compare eSIM plans for Argentina. A local SIM deserves consideration when an Argentine number is essential; Roafly suits visitors whose priority is internet access for maps, messaging and bookings.
Ezeiza offers free airport Wi-Fi. Use it to message your accommodation, open your transfer booking or arrange an eSIM if your phone supports one. Follow the network information displayed in the terminal or ask airport staff for the correct connection.
Save your pickup instructions and accommodation address before walking outside. Airport Wi-Fi is useful while you are in the terminal, but it is not a mobile-data connection for the journey into Buenos Aires.
Beyond arrival, our guide to internet options in Argentina explains how local SIMs, eSIMs, roaming and Wi-Fi fit different trips.
Give yourself a clear stopping point: either mobile data works, or you have saved everything needed to reach your accommodation without it. Avoid spending a tight connection window searching for a counter whose hours are uncertain.
Keep your passport secure after registration and put your phone away once your route or pickup is arranged. Our practical safety advice for Argentina covers precautions for the rest of the trip.
Arrival preparations also include what you bring through the border. Review Argentina’s customs allowances before packing alcohol, tobacco, gifts or large amounts of cash.
Do not assume the kiosk handles tourist registration. Personal directs customers who buy through kiosks or drugstores to an official point of sale for activation. Ask about passport-based setup before purchasing.
Published information does not reliably establish overnight SIM-counter hours. Prepare an eSIM, a suitable home-carrier roaming option or saved transfer details before a late arrival.
Buy at the airport if the counter is open, the complete price suits you and staff can activate the line before you leave. Waiting until the city is reasonable when you already have connectivity and want more time to compare local offers.
Yes. You can keep using your existing WhatsApp account over another SIM’s mobile data or an eSIM connection. Changing the data line does not require changing the number registered with WhatsApp.
