Yes, you can buy a local SIM at King Khalid International Airport, where STC, Mobily and Zain have listed outlets. Buying on arrival makes sense if you need a Saudi number and staff assistance; arranging a travel eSIM beforehand suits a trip that mainly needs mobile data.
The three operators are not listed in every terminal. Start with the location that matches your arrival, especially if someone is collecting you or you have an onward connection.
| Operator | Listed airport locations | Published opening hours |
|---|---|---|
| STC | T1–T2 Metro Link; Terminal 3 arrivals floor; Terminal 5 arrivals floor | 24 hours, daily |
| Mobily | T1–T2 Metro Link; Terminal 5 arrivals floor | 24 hours, daily |
| Zain | T1–T2 Metro Link; Terminal 4 arrivals floor | 24 hours, daily |
Terminal locations and hours checked against King Khalid International Airport’s operator listings on 22 October 2026. All three listings show cash, mada, Visa and Mastercard among accepted payment methods; service availability can change.
Terminal 3 points you toward STC; Terminal 4 toward Zain; Terminal 5 offers listed STC and Mobily locations. The T1–T2 Metro Link has listings for all three, although reaching that area may mean leaving your immediate arrivals route.
These are arrival-floor and Metro Link locations. Their listings do not establish that a shop is accessible from the international transit area. If you are staying airside, use the airport information desk to establish what you can reach before planning a SIM purchase.
Published round-the-clock hours are useful for late arrivals, but they do not establish the stock of a particular SIM or visitor package.
Current airport price not reliably published. There is no sufficiently clear, current all-in airport tariff covering the SIM, selected package and any activation or service charge across the three operators.
National visitor packages still provide a useful reference when discussing a quote. STC’s current Sawa Visitor offers include:
| STC visitor package | General data | Included calls | Validity | Advertised package price |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Visitor 26 | 6 GB | 60 minutes for local and eligible international calls | 14 days | SAR 31 |
| Visitor 47 | 21 GB | 120 minutes for local and eligible international calls | 14 days | SAR 55 |
| Visitor 65 | 33 GB | 180 minutes for local and eligible international calls | 21 days | SAR 75 |
STC national visitor offers checked on 22 October 2026. Prices include 15% VAT, and the published offers expire on 27 December 2026. These are package-price benchmarks, not verified RUH checkout totals. International calling destinations vary by package.
The smaller two packages last the same length of time. Paying more buys a larger allowance, while the 21-day option also extends the usable period.
At the counter, ask for the complete amount payable today, including the SIM or starter charge, package, activation and any additional service fee. Have the staff identify what accounts for any difference from the advertised package price.
Mobily and Zain are valid airport alternatives, but their presence alone does not establish a particular airport offer. Compare the package actually available to you, including its expiry date and general-purpose data allowance.
Keep your original passport and visa or entry details accessible, together with the unlocked phone you intend to use. Ask specifically for a visitor line suited to your stay.
Let the operator staff explain the identity-verification process available for your visitor status. If a biometric check is requested, complete it with the official operator’s staff. Do not assume an online activation process intended for existing residents will work identically for a newly arrived visitor.
Before paying, settle four practical points:
SIM format: physical SIM or eSIM, especially if your phone has no SIM tray.
Expiry: the exact date the purchased allowance ends.
Calling allowance: whether the destinations you need are included.
Total price: the complete amount, with any additional charges itemised.
Before leaving, turn off Wi-Fi briefly and load a webpage using mobile data. If calls are part of your purchase, ask the staff to demonstrate that the line is working and show you how to view the remaining allowance.
Save the receipt, your Saudi number and the package details. These make a later support request much easier than relying on the name printed on a display.
SIM setup is separate from arrival formalities. Review the Saudi Arabia customs rules before travelling with medicines, gifts or other goods that may need additional preparation.
Buy at the airport when a working local number matters immediately. Completing the purchase and testing the line before leaving can be worth more than spending your first hours in Riyadh finding another shop.
Waiting makes sense if you already have connectivity for the journey to your accommodation and want time to compare packages. STC sells its Sawa Visitor SIM through its sales offices, providing an alternative to an airport purchase.
There is no reliable basis here for promising that a city store will always be cheaper. Compare the same allowance, validity and complete purchase cost; a cheaper-looking recharge is not necessarily equivalent to a new visitor SIM.
The wider Saudi Arabia tourist SIM comparison covers local operator choices beyond the airport. Use it if you are considering a longer stay or a larger allowance.
Roafly’s Saudi Arabia eSIM lets you arrange mobile data before your flight and install the eSIM using a reliable internet connection. That removes the need to find a counter or obtain a physical SIM on arrival.
The plans are data-only: they do not include a Saudi phone number, ordinary voice calls or SMS. Hotspot use draws from your purchased allowance without a separate hotspot quota, and top-ups are supported.
This suits a trip built around maps, messaging, browsing and online bookings. If you need a Saudi number for calls or a service that specifically requires one, a local visitor line serves a different purpose.
Your phone must support eSIM and be carrier-unlocked. Follow the installation instructions before departure, then use the supplied connection settings when you arrive.

Riyadh Airport provides free Wi-Fi throughout its terminals. Its passenger guidance identifies the network as _KKIA free Wi-Fi and says to open your browser to get started, without registration. Follow the instructions displayed at the airport if the connection process differs.
Use the connection to retrieve your hotel address, contact your driver or review a package before paying. Download essential booking details and save your destination offline before leaving the terminal.
Wi-Fi can cover those first arrival tasks, but it will not provide mobile data during the journey into Riyadh. Set up your chosen connection before you need to follow a route or coordinate a pickup outside the building.
Alongside preparing your phone, familiarise yourself with the local rules for visitors before heading into the city.
