Cyprus has inexpensive local prepaid plans with large data allowances, and some include domestic calls and texts. Roafly gives you a convenient alternative for a short holiday: arrange your data before flying, keep your usual SIM in your phone and skip local SIM registration.
This guide covers the Republic of Cyprus, including Larnaca, Paphos, Limassol, Ayia Napa, Protaras and southern Nicosia. Northern Cyprus requires a separate coverage check, explained below.
The useful comparison is what you pay to get online. Some offers include a new SIM; others are top-ups for a number you must obtain separately.
| Option | Package | Data and validity | Upfront cost | Calls and texts |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Cyta | soeasy Combo 10 | 50 GB / 31 days | €10 top-up + starter SIM | 500 domestic minutes + 500 SMS |
| Epic | Holiday Internet | Unlimited promotional data / 15 days | €15, including SIM | No bundled minutes or SMS listed |
| Primetel | Combo €10 | 60 GB / 30 days | €10 top-up + starter SIM | 600 domestic minutes + 600 SMS |
| Cablenet | Always On 30 | Unlimited data / 30 days | €12: €2 SIM + €10 top-up | Unlimited domestic minutes and SMS |
| Roafly | Cyprus eSIM | 5 GB / 30 days | $8.90 | Data only; no local number |
Prices checked on 27 October 2026. Local prices are in euros; Roafly prices are in US dollars. Offers and terms may change. Cyta and Primetel starter SIM charges are separate from the top-ups shown.
Cablenet stands out for heavy domestic use, while Epic packages the SIM and a fortnight of data into one purchase. Cyta and Primetel are useful when you want a local number with a substantial allowance of calls and texts. Roafly suits visitors who want their travel data arranged before departure.
Booking accommodation, navigating between beaches and messaging family rarely requires hundreds of gigabytes. With Roafly’s Cyprus eSIM plans, you can buy an allowance that matches your trip and install it while you still have a reliable internet connection.
Alongside the 5 GB option above, Roafly offers 1 GB for 7 days at $3.50 and 10 GB for 30 days at $12.00. The smaller plan works as a light-use arrival connection; 10 GB gives you more room for everyday browsing, social media and navigation.
Networks: Vodafone and Epic, with 4G/5G where available.
Hotspot: share the purchased allowance without a separate tethering quota.
Registration: no ID verification is required for these Roafly plans.
Validity: starts when the eSIM first connects to a supported network in Cyprus.
Top-ups: available if you need more data.

Your phone must support eSIM and be carrier-unlocked. Roafly provides mobile data rather than a Cypriot phone number, so it is well suited to WhatsApp, maps and online bookings. Regular local calls or SMS are a reason to consider one of the voice-enabled local packages.

Cyta’s soeasy Combo 10 combines a generous data allowance with domestic calls and messages. It is a practical choice if you will be phoning restaurants, accommodation or other local businesses directly.
The distinction is between buying a new connection and adding a bundle:
Physical SIM buyers need a soeasy starter pack, followed by their chosen top-up.
The starter pack includes a new mobile number and €1 initial credit.
The Combo 10 allowance lasts 31 days; the starter account’s validity is a separate matter.
Cyta also offers a €4.90 unlimited-data add-on lasting seven days for use within Cyprus. That is an add-on for a soeasy connection, so allow for the initial SIM purchase when budgeting for a one-week trip.
Epic’s Holiday Internet pack is designed for short visits and has a clear starting price: the physical SIM and initial data allowance come together.
The 15-day data period begins when registration is successfully completed. Time that step around your arrival, especially if you purchase the eSIM version before flying.
The unlimited allowance is promotional. Current terms run through 31 December 2026, or until the relevant packs at selected sales points sell out. It is a useful holiday offer, but the promotion’s end date matters when booking a later trip.
Physical packs are available through Epic stores and kiosks. The included benefit is data; budget separately for any chargeable calls or messages.
Primetel’s €10 Combo provides more data and domestic minutes than Cyta’s equivalent top-up, with a slightly shorter validity period. The SIM purchase remains separate.
Its longer-stay option is also useful: the €20 Combo includes 250 GB, 2,500 minutes and 2,500 SMS for 60 days, plus €2 credit. That can suit a longer visit without taking out a monthly contract.
Be precise about the product you buy. Primetel’s Combo top-ups, prepaid eSIM bundles and Travel Internet packs have different allowances and conditions; a price attached to one should not be applied to another.
Cablenet’s Always On prepaid passes offer particularly good value when you want substantial domestic use without measuring every gigabyte.
The €2 connection pack includes €1 credit. Adding a €10 top-up provides enough balance to activate Always On 30, making the initial cash outlay €12.
Two conditions matter:
Included calls and texts are domestic; international, premium-rate and universal-access services are excluded.
Always On passes do not apply while roaming.
That makes Cablenet especially relevant for a stay within its Cyprus service area. Treat an onward trip or a visit to the north as a separate mobile-data decision.
Local prepaid connections require identification before service is activated. This applies to physical SIMs and local-operator eSIMs.
Bring the document that applies to you:
EU visitors: a passport or accepted national identity card.
Visitors from outside the EU: a passport.
Under-18 users: an adult must register as the owner; arrangements for adding the minor are handled through the operator.
In-store registration is useful if you want assistance. Online registration can involve entering your personal details, photographing your identity document and taking a selfie. Primetel’s prepaid registration instructions explain this process and when a store visit is necessary.
Keep the SIM packaging until setup is complete. Registration may require the mobile number, PUK or SIM identifier printed on it, depending on the operator.
Before leaving a shop:
Complete identification and wait for the line to activate.
Confirm that the intended bundle has been added.
Open a webpage using mobile data with Wi-Fi switched off.
Keep the receipt and the details needed to manage or top up the line.
Operator shops are the most straightforward choice when you want help with registration, plan selection or activation. Cyta, Epic, Primetel and Cablenet have their own retail channels.
Physical SIMs are also sold through other outlets:
Cyta: partner shops and kiosks.
Epic: stores and kiosks selling Holiday Internet packs.
Cablenet: selected resellers, kiosks and mini-markets.
Ask for the complete starting cost before paying: SIM, data bundle and any retailer service charge. Buying a starter pack does not necessarily mean the data package you wanted is already active.
If you plan to buy at the airport, establish whether the seller can complete registration and activate the package. The useful result is a working connection before you leave the terminal.
Keep your accommodation address and transport details available offline for arrival. Roafly is convenient if you would rather arrange data before departure; an operator shop during your stay is useful when local calls are the priority.
Physical SIM cards are not the only route to a Cypriot prepaid number. Cyta offers a €12 soeasy eSIM connection with 50 GB, 500 minutes, 500 SMS and €2 credit. Primetel also sells prepaid eSIM bundles, and Epic offers Holiday Internet as an eSIM.
Local eSIMs still require the operator’s identification process. Their main difference from a physical SIM is how the connection is installed.
Visitors with an EU/EEA mobile plan may already have enough roaming data for a trip to the Republic of Cyprus. The allowance can be subject to fair-use limits, so look at your roaming entitlement rather than assuming your full domestic bundle travels with you.
UK visitors should check their own provider’s Cyprus terms, because inclusion depends on the plan. The same applies to travelers arriving with a non-European SIM.
Local prepaid allowances also need to be read at package level. Cablenet’s Always On passes, for example, are for domestic use rather than roaming.
Visits to Kyrenia, northern Nicosia or other destinations in Northern Cyprus need separate connectivity planning from a stay in Larnaca or Paphos. Do not assume that a package labeled “Cyprus” includes both parts of the island.
Use the coverage list for the exact package you are buying. Our guide to eSIM options for Northern Cyprus covers that separate destination.
Near the dividing line, a phone can also pick up a different network before you cross. Manual network selection helps control which network the handset joins. Keep data roaming disabled on a home SIM you do not intend to use, and follow the travel eSIM’s own settings for the line supplying your data.
Yes. Changing the SIM used for mobile data does not require changing your WhatsApp number. Keep your existing WhatsApp account and use the new connection for internet access.
Not necessarily. Account validity, credit validity and bundle validity can differ. Use the duration attached to the data package when planning your stay.
Carrier-locked phones may reject another operator’s physical SIM or eSIM. Arrange unlocking with your home provider before traveling; an eSIM-compatible handset must also be unlocked to use Roafly.
Local prepaid is worthwhile if you need domestic calls or expect heavy data use. Roafly is convenient for a week of navigation, messaging and browsing when you want to avoid a shop visit and local registration. Existing EU roaming may already cover the trip.
Roafly makes a short holiday easier to prepare for: install your eSIM before flying and use a prepaid allowance suited to your plans. Local prepaid becomes especially attractive when you need a Cypriot number or a large domestic bundle.
Cablenet deserves a close look for heavy use, Epic offers a straightforward fortnight package, and Cyta or Primetel combine substantial data with domestic calls. Make the south–north coverage decision first, then choose the package.
Roafly publishes this guide and sells the travel eSIM plans discussed above.
