Ooredoo and Vodafone both sell tourist SIM packages with seven-, 14- and 30-day options. Their main visitor bundles currently have matching prices and data allowances, so the useful differences include calling benefits, SIM charges and how you want to activate your line.
Roafly provides a data-only alternative for an unlocked, eSIM-compatible phone, with no passport verification or physical SIM swap.
The local packages below include a Qatar mobile number. Roafly’s plans provide internet access without a local number, ordinary voice minutes or SMS.
| Operator and package | Data | Validity | Package price | Included calls |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Ooredoo Visitor Go | 6 GB | 7 days | QAR 75 | 25 local minutes |
| Ooredoo Visitor Plus | 10 GB | 14 days | QAR 100 | 100 local + 25 international minutes |
| Ooredoo Visitor Pro | 25 GB | 30 days | QAR 150 | 400 local + 75 international minutes |
| Vodafone Ahlan 75 | 6 GB | 7 days | QAR 75 | 25 local minutes |
| Vodafone Ahlan 100 | 10 GB | 14 days | QAR 100 | 100 local + 25 international minutes |
| Vodafone Ahlan 150 | 25 GB, then up to 512 Kbps | 30 days | QAR 150 | 400 local + 75 international minutes |
| Roafly 5 GB | 5 GB | 30 days | US$12.90 | Data only |
| Roafly 10 GB | 10 GB | 30 days | US$24.00 | Data only |
Prices and allowances checked on 16 October 2026, before promotional codes. Local bundles are priced in Qatari riyals; Roafly prices are in US dollars. Prices and terms may change. International minutes apply to eligible destinations. Vodafone Ahlan 150 also includes 100 local SMS.
Treat the local figures above as package prices. The amount you pay for a new physical connection can also depend on the starter SIM and purchase channel.
Vodafone’s eSIM FAQ lists a QAR 15 physical SIM charge and no eSIM issuance charge. Its prepaid tariff separately lists an Instant SIM at QAR 10 and a Standard Welcome Pack at QAR 25, with some partners able to distribute Instant SIMs free. These are different products and channels, so adding one fixed SIM fee to every Ahlan package would be misleading.
Before paying, ask for the total covering your chosen package, SIM format and any activation or delivery charge. An airport purchase is not automatically more expensive than a city-store purchase.
Ooredoo’s Visitor SIM packages offer a clear progression from a short Doha visit to a month-long stay. The main reason to move up is the combination of more data, longer validity and additional calling minutes.
The seven-day package suits a short trip with occasional local calls. The larger options make more sense when you need to telephone hotels, restaurants or other businesses regularly.
Ooredoo also distinguishes between bundle validity and line validity. Its Visitor SIM line is valid for one month and can be extended through an applicable recharge; the data and minutes in a shorter bundle still expire on their own schedule.
Vodafone’s Ahlan packages match Ooredoo’s main visitor price and data tiers. Its 30-day package adds continued internet at up to 512 Kbps after the initial 25 GB, alongside the local SMS allowance.
That reduced-speed connection can help with basic messaging and light browsing, but it is a different experience from the initial data allowance. Do not treat it as unlimited full-speed data for streaming or large uploads.
The current Vodafone prepaid tariff makes Ahlan eligibility explicit: these packs are for customers without a Qatar ID who register with a valid passport, excluding customers whose visas have been cancelled.
Buying after arrival is convenient if you want someone to help with registration and setup before you leave for Doha.
Ooredoo identifies these airport sales points:
Qatar Duty Free in the baggage-collection area.
Ooredoo kiosks near exits 2, 3 and 4 in the Arrivals Hall.
Day2Day in the Arrivals Hall.
Vodafone also sells Ahlan connections at Hamad International Airport; its October–December 2026 visitor promotion specifically includes purchases there. Follow current airport signage for the sales point rather than relying on an old terminal map.
Before leaving the counter, open a webpage, check that the expected allowance appears and save your Qatar number if you bought a local line.
Ooredoo and Vodafone retail stores provide another route if you prefer to reach your accommodation first. Bring your passport and ask for a prepaid visitor connection with the allowance and validity you need.
Keep the request specific: a tourist package, a general prepaid recharge and a postpaid subscription are different purchases. Compare the complete initial payment rather than the most prominent monthly price in the shop.
Both operators offer digital purchase routes, including eSIM options for compatible phones. Ooredoo also offers physical SIM delivery within Qatar.
Vodafone’s tourist eSIM guidance directs visitors to select a prepaid connection and verify their identity using a passport. Choosing eSIM removes the plastic card, but local-operator registration still applies.
Visitors can obtain a local connection using a passport. Vodafone’s Ahlan terms specifically cover customers without a Qatar ID, so you do not need to be a resident to use that visitor product.
Keep the process practical:
Check your phone. It must be unlocked for another operator. Confirm eSIM support if you want a digital connection, or that your phone has a suitable physical SIM slot.
Bring your passport. Use your own identity for registration and complete the operator’s verification process.
Select the package and SIM format. Establish the total payment and when the allowance starts before completing the purchase.
Test the connection. Check mobile data, your allowance and the local number before leaving the store or finishing setup.
Save the activation message or purchase receipt. It helps distinguish the bundle you bought from your remaining balance, SIM line validity and any later recharge.
Roafly’s Qatar eSIM suits a trip where your main needs are maps, browsing, transport bookings and messages between Wi-Fi connections.
Both selected packages give you 30-day validity, which is useful if your visit extends beyond the seven- or 14-day windows of the smaller local visitor bundles. The allowance is still fixed: 30-day validity does not mean that intensive daily use will last a month.
The practical benefits include:
No ID verification: purchase without the passport-registration process used for a local connection.
Setup before departure: install over Wi-Fi while you have time to review the instructions.
Hotspot support: share the purchased allowance without a separate hotspot quota.
Top-ups: add data to an active eSIM when needed.
Your existing SIM can remain available if your phone supports the required dual-SIM combination. Keep home-line data roaming disabled and select the travel eSIM for mobile data to avoid using your home operator’s overseas data service.
Local SIMs remain useful when you need a Qatar phone number or ordinary calling minutes. Roafly is data-only, and your device must support eSIM.

Do not assume that it will. The visitor allowances compared here are local Qatar data, and Roafly’s Qatar country plan covers Qatar.
An onward journey requires a plan or roaming allowance that explicitly includes the next destination. International calling minutes let you call eligible overseas numbers; they do not provide overseas mobile data.
Yes. Ooredoo supports applicable recharges on its Visitor SIM, and Vodafone offers Ahlan recharges through its app, website and recharge channels.
Select the actual bundle you need rather than assuming that adding monetary credit automatically renews your original allowance. Check the new expiry after recharging.
Your existing WhatsApp account can stay registered to its usual number while another SIM supplies mobile data. Changing the data connection does not require changing the account’s phone number.
Keep access to the original number in case you need to verify the account again. Included local calling minutes apply to ordinary network calls, separately from internet-based app calls.
Ooredoo or Vodafone makes sense when a local number and calling minutes are part of the trip. Compare the final SIM-inclusive payment and choose the purchase route that is easiest for your arrival.
Roafly suits visitors who want prepaid internet, 30-day package validity and setup before departure. Choose the allowance around your expected data use, especially if you will share a hotspot or upload video.
Disclosure: Roafly publishes this guide and offers the travel-eSIM alternative discussed.
