SIM validity and package validity are different. The Bula 35 SIM remains valid for 90 days, while its included package lasts 10 days. Bula 70 and Bula 100 advertise-year SIM validity, with their package benefits lasting 15 and 30 days respectively.

Keeping the SIM active can be useful for later top-ups, but it does not turn the original data allowance into a year-long package.

Understanding Digicel’s tourist plans

Digicel’s seven-day allowance is substantial, but an eight- or ten-night holiday still needs a plan covering the remaining days. Buying by gigabytes alone can leave you arranging another package mid-trip.

Bring your original passport when buying a local SIM. Vodafone explicitly requires a valid physical passport for its tourist SIM; a photograph on your phone is not a substitute.

That makes Giga 35 worth considering you have a registered SIM and need substantial data for a longer stay.

Digicel uses separate tourist-plan rules

Digicel Traveler bundles are restricted to tourist SIMs. Its tourist-plan FAQ also excludes switching to Prime plans on that tourist connection, so an ordinary prepaid promotion is not necessarily a usable replacement.

Keep the SIM type in mind when adding credit. Confirm which Traveler renewal you are purchasing, rather than assuming any amount will activate whichever prepaid deal you saw advertised.

Using a Local SIM or Roafly eSIM
