Yes, you can buy a local SIM at Bishkek Manas Airport, where MEGA has a listed sales and service point in arrivals. Buying there suits visitors who want a Kyrgyz phone number and an in-person purchase; preparing an eSIM beforehand is convenient when you mainly need data and want to leave promptly.
Manas now uses the airport code BSZ. Older guides and booking references may still call it FRU, which refers to the same airport.
MEGA is the clearest verified starting point for an airport purchase. Its published location is on the first floor in the arrivals area.
| Option | Where to arrange it | Cost information | Best suited to |
|---|---|---|---|
| MEGA airport SIM | Manas Airport arrivals, first floor | Current airport price not reliably published | Visitors wanting a local number and an in-person purchase |
| Local SIM in Bishkek | City operator stores | Published tariff fee plus any separate starter or setup charges | Visitors with time to compare local packages |
| Roafly travel eSIM | Online before departure | Selected prepaid data plan | Visitors who want data without visiting a counter |
Checked 8 October 2026. Airport SIM totals, starter charges and payment methods were not reliably published. National operator tariffs should be treated as comparison points rather than airport quotations.
MEGA’s official office directory identifies its Manas branch at 105 Vasilyevsky Trakt, first floor, arrivals area.
The listed schedule is round-the-clock service, with two daily breaks:
00:00–01:00
12:30–13:30
These breaks matter if your flight lands around midnight. Allow time for arrival formalities before deciding whether you will reach the desk during its opening period.
The directory does not specify the desk’s position relative to the security boundary. If you are connecting without entering Kyrgyzstan, establish whether you can reach it before relying on an airport purchase.
Beeline and O! also appear in traveller accounts of airport SIM shopping, but their current terminal positions and opening hours are less clearly documented. Use the available branded counters to compare offers without relying on an old floor plan.
The complete current airport price is not reliably published. Get the total for a working connection before paying, including the SIM itself, the selected package and any additional service charge.
Ask the seller to write down:
The total price in Kyrgyz som, or KGS.
The usable data allowance and validity period.
Whether local calls and SMS are included.
Whether hotspot use is allowed and whether speed limits apply.
Any separate SIM, activation or service charge.
“Unlimited” needs a little more explanation than a single word on a sign. Establish whether it means unlimited full-speed data, a fixed high-speed allowance followed by slower service, or access limited to particular apps.
Foreign-card acceptance at the airport counter is not reliably documented. Keep some som available as a backup and get a receipt showing what you purchased.
Before walking away, turn off Wi-Fi and open a webpage using mobile data. Have the seller resolve registration or connection problems while you are still at the desk.
Bring your original passport when buying a local SIM. The number should be registered in your name, and full service depends on completing that registration.
Ask the seller to finish the process and show you the active package. Keep the SIM packaging and your copy of any contract or receipt, especially if you may need help recovering the number later.
SIM registration and phone registration are separate. Kyrgyzstan also operates an IMEI system for mobile devices, which can affect a phone brought from abroad and used with a local SIM.
The official IMEI registration portal instructs users to register applicable devices within 30 days of their first connection to a Kyrgyz operator’s network. Have the seller check your handset’s status and explain any required registration or fee. Completing the SIM paperwork alone does not complete this device process.
Phones using foreign-operator SIMs through international roaming are treated separately and are exempt from the local device-registration requirement. The relevant distinction is the service being used; having an eSIM instead of a plastic SIM does not by itself establish an exemption.
Waiting until you reach Bishkek makes sense if your transfer is arranged and you can manage the journey without buying a local number immediately.
Useful city options include:
O!Store at Bishkek Park: 148 Kievskaya Street, level M1; listed daily hours 10:00–22:00.
O!Store at TSUM: 155 Chuy Avenue, first floor; listed daily hours 10:00–20:45.
These stores give you an alternative if the airport queue is long or the available package does not fit your stay.
As a price benchmark, O!’s promotional SuperHit 230 tariff offers 50 GB for 28 days at 230 KGS, with hotspot use, unlimited calls and SMS within O!, and 50 minutes to other Kyrgyz mobile networks. It is available when activating a new SIM through O!Store or the operator’s app.
O! tariff checked 8 October 2026. The 230 KGS figure is the subscription fee; separate starter-SIM, setup or applicable device-registration costs are outside that figure.
This illustrates why a city comparison can be worthwhile for a larger allowance or local calls. It does not establish a fixed airport markup: compare the airport’s complete offer with the package you could actually buy in town.
Our guide to buying a local SIM in Kyrgyzstan covers the wider operator and registration choices.
An eSIM-only phone can also use a local operator’s digital SIM. O! supports passport-based eSIM registration for foreign nationals through its app, including preparation before arrival; mobile service becomes available inside Kyrgyzstan. Airport-counter eSIM availability should be checked separately.
Roafly’s Kyrgyzstan eSIM uses Beeline and provides 4G where available. It is a data-only product, with hotspot use within your allowance and top-ups available.
It fits a trip where maps, messaging, bookings and browsing are the main priorities. You will need an unlocked, eSIM-compatible device. The plan does not include a Kyrgyz phone number or local voice and SMS service.
Install the eSIM over a stable internet connection before leaving home. On arrival, select it for mobile data and enable data roaming on that line, following the setup instructions.

The practical benefit is avoiding a counter visit, its queue and its opening schedule. Local SIM packages remain worth comparing when you want a local number or a larger allowance.
You can compare eSIM providers for Kyrgyzstan if you want to assess other travel-data options before purchasing.
Manas provides free Wi-Fi in its international-terminal waiting area, where USB ports and power sockets are also listed. The airport describes this area as being before passport control.
Current network names, session limits and any SMS-login requirements are not clearly published. Follow terminal signage or ask airport staff for the correct network.
Wi-Fi can help you retrieve a booking or contact your accommodation while inside the terminal. Save your hotel address, transfer details and an offline map before flying so that leaving the building does not depend on maintaining that connection.
If you arrive during MEGA’s overnight break, your practical choices are to wait, use an already prepared mobile connection, or continue to your accommodation and visit a city store later. Decide before departure how much you need a local number on the first night.
