Team: useful for frequent calls, with a longer renewal cycle

Team’s Be Free airport offer has the largest included minute allowance among these three tourist packages. That makes it worth considering if you expect to call accommodation providers, guides or drivers frequently.

The offer can be purchased at Team’s Zvartnots Airport service centre. Its first activation and subsequent renewal have different prices and durations, which matters particularly for trips extending beyond two weeks.

Ucom uWelcome: a short-stay option for phone use

Ucom’s uWelcome tourist package can be purchased at its Zvartnots Airport service centre. Its minute allowance covers local networks, the USA and Canada, which may be useful if you need conventional calls to those destinations.

The package is intended for smartphones. Laptop users should pay particular attention to the internet-sharing conditions below.

Arriving at Zvartnots Airport

Viva, Team and Ucom have service points in the arrivals area at Yerevan’s Zvartnots International Airport. Buying there lets you arrange a local number before continuing into the city.

Ask for the exact tariff name in the comparison, especially at Team. Another plan with a similar name or price can have different allowances and renewal terms.

Buying after leaving the airport

Operator service centres also provide a practical buying route if you arrive overland or prefer to deal with setup after reaching your accommodation. Useful Team locations include:

There is no reason to assume a city shop will automatically be cheaper. Compare the named package and complete payment rather than the location alone.

Documents, Payment and Activation

Take your original passport and an unlocked phone to the service centre. Keep your accommodation address available in case it is needed for registration; do not assume every operator uses an identical document checklist.

Use the purchase conversation to settle four things:

1. Registration: have the line registered in your name and ask which documents the operator needs for that particular service.

2. Complete payment: get the package fee, any SIM or service charge and any mandatory top-up separated before paying. Ask about your preferred payment method.

3. Activation: let the employee finish setup, then test mobile data with Wi-Fi switched off.

Large allowances do not settle the sharing question

These tourist packages are primarily designed for phone use. Someone browsing and messaging on handset has different requirements from someone connecting a laptop or sharing data with a partner.

• Ucom: after 200 GB within the 15-day period, speed falls to 512 kbps. Tethering may be limited.

• Team: its fair-use terms allow speed reduction to 512 kbps after 200 GB. The terms also restrict providing or sharing the service with third parties.

• Viva: TOURIST UNLIM is not intended for modems or Wi-Fi devices. That restriction alone does not establish the policy for every smartphone hotspot use.

If internet sharing is essential, resolve that specific use before buying. The word “unlimited” on a tariff does not answer whether you can use it as your accommodation’s internet connection.

Budget for the first renewal

Viva and Ucom renew their tourist bundles for another 15 days at AMD 2,500 when sufficient balance is available. Team instead moves from the initial 15-day offer to a 30-day package costing AMD 5,000.

That produces a useful distinction for a 16–30-day trip, assuming you keep the same tariff and renew:

• Viva or Ucom: AMD 5,000 in package payments covers two consecutive 15-day periods.

• Team: AMD 7,500 in package payments buys the initial 15 days plus a further 30 days, taking the purchased validity to 45 days.

These are calculated package payments, excluding any separate purchase charges. Team’s extra validity may help on a longer stay, but a three-week visitor still pays for the full renewal.

Prepaid bundles can renew automatically from available credit. Monitor the package expiry in the operator’s account tools, and wait for activation confirmation before resuming use after a renewal.

Local SIM or Roafly eSIM?
