How to fix "PDP authentication failure" on iPhone/iPad

If you see a pop-up saying "Could not activate cellular data network: PDP authentication failure" on your iPhone or iPad, do not panic! This simply means your device is missing the correct APN (Access Point Name) to connect to the internet.

It is a very common iOS issue and takes only a minute to fix:

Step 1: Get your unique APN

Do NOT use generic examples. You can find your specific APN name in these two places:

  1. Roafly App / Website: Go to My eSIMs > eSIM Details and scroll to the very bottom of the page.

  2. Email: Check your Order Confirmation Email.

Step 2: Enter the APN manually

  1. Go to Settings > Cellular (or Mobile Data).

  2. Select your eSIM.

  3. Tap Cellular Data Network.

  4. In the APN field (under the Cellular Data section), type the exact name you found in Step 1.

  5. Leave Username and Password fields blank.

  6. Important: Toggle Airplane Mode ON and OFF (or restart your phone) to activate the new settings.

Step 3: Reset Network Settings If your phone's network cache is stuck, entering the APN might not work immediately. You need to reset the connection.

  • Go to Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPhone > Reset > Reset Network Settings. (Note: This is highly effective, but it will erase your saved Wi-Fi passwords).

Step 4: Restart your connection After the network reset, or as a final refresh, turn Airplane Mode on for 30 seconds and then turn it off, or fully restart your phone. This forces your device to ping the local cell towers with the newly updated APN.
