Orange’s Teeru bundle is a straightforward choice for a two-week trip when you need a Senegalese number and included calls. Standard prepaid SIMs with a separate internet pass suit visitors prioritizing data value, while Roafly lets you arrange mobile data before departure without visiting a local shop.
Local prices are quoted in West African CFA francs, written as FCFA or XOF. Compare the SIM itself and the internet pass separately unless you are buying an inclusive starter bundle.
| Option | Data and validity | Internet or bundle price | SIM cost | Main reason to choose it |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Orange Teeru | 15 GB for 15 days; 5 GB is 5G-only | 9,900 FCFA, including tax | Included | Local number, 600 national minutes and 500 SMS |
| Orange standard prepaid | 10 GB for 7 days | 2,500 FCFA | 500 FCFA through the advertised kiosk offer | Buy a standard SIM and select your own pass |
| Yas prepaid | 9 GB for 7 days | 2,000 FCFA | Separate; obtain the purchase price from the seller | Weekly data without buying a tourist bundle |
| Expresso prepaid | 11 GB for 7 days | 2,000 FCFA | Separate; obtain the purchase price from the seller | More weekly data at the same pass price as Yas |
Orange, Yas and Expresso prices and terms checked on 2 November 2026. Prices may change; standalone internet passes exclude the SIM unless stated.
The advertised Orange SIM and weekly pass add up to 3,000 FCFA. That is the sum of those two components, rather than an airport package quote; ask for the full purchase total before paying. For Yas and Expresso, the 2,000 FCFA figure buys the data pass, so budget for the SIM separately.
The Orange Teeru tourist bundle suits visitors who expect to call accommodation, drivers or other Senegalese numbers. Its data and expiry conditions deserve a closer look:
Data: 10 GB outside the exclusive 5G portion, plus 5 GB usable only on 5G.
Bundle duration: 15 days.
Number duration: 30 days initially.
International calls: up to five minutes, alongside the national allowance.
With a 4G-only phone, judge Teeru by its usable 10 GB. The extra allowance requires a 5G connection.
Orange also sells ordinary prepaid SIMs through its Orange Money kiosks and approved points of sale. Pairing the advertised 500 FCFA SIM with a separate pass gives you control over how much data you buy and how long it lasts.
The weekly option makes sense when data matters more than bundled calls. Its allowance lasts seven days and does not include Teeru’s calling and SMS benefits.
Yas is the current name of the operator previously branded Free Senegal. Older guides and some network labels still use Free, which can make the same operator look like two separate choices.
The Yas internet passes include an especially useful duration trade-off:
9 GB for seven days: 2,000 FCFA.
7 GB for 30 days: 2,000 FCFA.
12.5 GB for 30 days: 5,000 FCFA.
The monthly pass suits lighter use spread over a longer stay. Choose the weekly allowance when you expect to use the extra data within seven days.
Passes are activated through #155#. Have the seller help you select the correct validity period when setting up a new line.
Expresso’s weekly pass offers more data than Yas’s weekly pass at the same advertised price. Its longer options include 15 GB for 15 days at 2,500 FCFA and 40 GB for 30 days at 3,500 FCFA.
Those allowances are attractive for heavier use, especially if you will stay in one place. Before choosing mainly by gigabytes, ask your accommodation which network works well at the property; that is a more useful question than which operator is cheapest nationwide.
Coverage deserves the same attention on a trip through Saly, Saint-Louis or Casamance. Download offline maps before longer road journeys, whichever SIM you buy.
Orange Teeru is available through the Orange outlet at Blaise Diagne International Airport, also known as AIBD or DSS. Orange also identifies its République, Sea Plaza and Almadies agencies as sales locations.
Your main buying routes are:
On arrival: ask for Teeru at the airport Orange outlet if you want the inclusive tourist offer.
In Dakar: use an official operator agency for help with registration and package selection.
At an approved Orange sales point: ask about the standard prepaid SIM and add the pass you need.
Buying in the city does not automatically mean buying a cheaper version of the same airport package. The useful comparison is between the actual products offered: an inclusive tourist bundle and an ordinary SIM with separately purchased data.
Local SIM registration is mandatory. Bring the documents that apply to your purchase:
Visitors from outside ECOWAS: your passport.
Senegalese and ECOWAS customers: an accepted national identity document or passport.
Teeru customers: a valid travel ticket as well as identification; keep the ticket accessible offline.
Orange’s SIM identification instructions explain its accepted documents. Register in person; anyone acting for an absent subscriber needs a legalized power of attorney. Individuals are limited to three SIMs per operator.
Use the setup assistance while you are there:
Ask for the total covering the SIM, selected package and any additional charge.
Register the line in your own name.
Confirm the allowance and expiry date in the activation message or account.
Open a webpage with Wi-Fi switched off to test mobile data.
Save your Senegalese number and the method for buying another pass.
Keep your original SIM somewhere secure if you remove it. Review the Senegal customs rules before arrival if you are bringing several devices or other goods.
Roafly suits a trip where maps, messaging, bookings and internet calls cover your needs. You can buy and install it before departure, keep your existing SIM in place and avoid arranging local registration after landing.
The Senegal plans provide data without a Senegalese phone number or ordinary calls and SMS. They list the network as Free, the legacy name of Yas, with 4G where available.
Useful starting points are:
1 GB for seven days — $6.90: light use or data for the first part of your trip.
3 GB for 30 days — $12.90: messaging, maps and occasional browsing across a longer visit.
5 GB for 30 days — $19.90: a larger allowance for everyday travel use.
Standard Roafly prices checked on 2 November 2026; prices and availability may change.
The plans include:
No ID verification or automatic renewal.
Top-ups and hotspot sharing from your purchased allowance, with no separate hotspot quota.
Validity starting when the eSIM connects to a supported network.
Install over a reliable internet connection before traveling, then follow the instructions for selecting your data line. Keep data roaming off on your home line to avoid unintended use of that service.
Compare the Senegal eSIM plans against your trip length and expected usage. Purchase and installation can be completed before arrival, leaving you free to head to your accommodation without a SIM-shop stop.

Adding credit and buying an internet pass are separate steps in many prepaid purchases. Ask for the data package by its allowance and validity, then keep the confirmation message so you know when it ends.
The main details to remember are:
Orange Teeru: buy additional offers through Max it or Orange’s service menus while the line remains valid. Use the Sama Numéro option if you want to extend the number’s validity.
Yas: use #155# to select a pass, paying attention to the difference between weekly and monthly options.
Expresso: the 11 GB weekly pass uses *19*2000#.
Treat the local packages above as Senegal domestic data. If your itinerary crosses The Gambia or continues into Mauritania, arrange service for that country separately; Yas, for example, offers specific roaming passes for those destinations.
Hotel Wi-Fi or an existing home-carrier roaming allowance may also change how much mobile data you need. Our guide to internet options in Senegal covers those alternatives in more detail.
Yes. Teeru is available as an eSIM, and Yas offers an agency-purchased eSIM for 2,000 FCFA including 3 GB for 30 days. Local registration still applies.
Orange’s current digital process through Max it is for already identified Orange customers with an Orange Money account. First-time visitors who have not completed that registration should plan to buy through an agency or the airport outlet.
You can keep using WhatsApp with your existing registered number over the new data connection. Changing the SIM or mobile-data line does not require changing the number in WhatsApp; retain access to your original number in case you need to verify the account again.
Your phone must be unlocked to use another operator’s SIM. Check with the carrier that supplied it before traveling; buying a local SIM will not remove the lock. Roafly additionally requires an eSIM-compatible device.
Buy locally when a Senegalese number and domestic data value are your priorities: Teeru bundles the essentials, while standard prepaid lets you select a pass for your stay.
Choose Roafly when you want the setup finished before departure and maps, messaging and internet calls cover your needs.
Roafly publishes this guide and offers the travel eSIM described above.
