Start with Digicel’s weekly prepaid option if you need plenty of data and local calls during a week in Jamaica. Roafly provides a data-only alternative you can install before traveling, while Flow deserves a closer look at its visitor-registration requirements before you plan a store visit.
Local prepaid bundles and travel eSIMs serve different needs. The local options below include calling benefits, while Roafly focuses on mobile data without a Jamaican phone number.
| Option | Data and validity | Standard package price | Main consideration |
|---|---|---|---|
| Digicel Prime Brawta | 35 GB / 7 days | JMD 1,200 + GCT | 500 local minutes; new-SIM cost separate |
| Flow prepaid | 7 days; confirm current GB allowance | JMD 1,140 | Confirm visitor registration and complete SIM cost |
| Roafly 5 GB | 5 GB / 30 days | US$22.90 | Data-only eSIM using Flow |
| Roafly 10 GB | 10 GB / 30 days | US$34.90 | Data-only eSIM using Flow |
Prices checked on October 20, 2026, using Digicel’s prepaid offers, Flow’s rate notice and Roafly’s product pages. Prices and terms may change.
The local package prices are not complete quotes for a new line. Digicel explicitly excludes General Consumption Tax (GCT), while Flow’s rate notice does not establish the complete tourist purchase total, including the SIM and tax treatment.
Compare the amount you will pay to leave with a working connection. Keep the SIM or starter-kit charge, selected bundle, taxes and any activation charge separate until the seller gives you that total.
Digicel is a practical starting point for visitors who want substantial data alongside ordinary local calls. Its weekly Prime Brawta bundle suits a trip involving frequent uploads, navigation and calls to accommodation or drivers.
The bundle lasts seven days, so a longer holiday requires another purchase or a different plan. Its local calling allowance should also be distinguished from international calling.
Digicel’s SIM-To-Go starter is explicitly offered to people visiting Jamaica. It is available through participating retailers, including gas stations and pharmacies, with activation through an online portal.
The advertised starter price is JMD 750. The public offer does not clearly establish everything included in that payment, so ask which allowance comes with the starter before adding a separate bundle.
SIM-To-Go broadens your buying options beyond a branded store. If you would prefer help with registration and setup, an official Digicel shop is the more straightforward place to ask for assistance.
Digicel also markets dedicated tourist eSIMs for compatible phones:
Three days: 7 GB and 60 “Anywhere Minutes,” advertised at JMD 1,920 excluding GCT.
28 days: 25 GB and 180 “Anywhere Minutes,” advertised at JMD 8,000 excluding GCT.
These are separate offers from the regular prepaid bundles. The current longer tourist offer has 28-day validity, which matters if you encounter an older reference describing it as a 30-day plan.
The “Anywhere Minutes” label should be checked against the destinations included in the selected offer. It should not be read as unrestricted worldwide calling.
Flow offers prepaid mobile service and local eSIMs, including an in-store eSIM option promoted to people visiting Jamaica. The decision requires more than finding an attractive bundle price.
Its general prepaid registration guidance names a valid government-issued ID and a Tax Registration Number, or TRN. That guidance does not clearly explain the alternative process for a foreign visitor without a Jamaican TRN.
Contact the intended Flow store before making a special trip. Ask whether your foreign passport is sufficient for a new prepaid line, what additional information is needed and what the complete first payment will be.
Flow’s prepaid offers combine general-use data with calling, texting and selected social-app benefits. “Unlimited” benefits remain subject to fair-use conditions; they should not be treated as unlimited high-speed data for every app.
The published seven-day price is useful as a starting point, but the current general-use data allowance needs confirmation before purchase. Keep promotional app prices and renewal discounts separate from the standard first-purchase price.
Flow’s prepaid terms provide for automatic renewal unless you opt out through *787#. Deal with that setting during activation if you want a one-time package for your holiday.
Official operator shops are useful when you want the staff to explain registration, set up the line and help you establish that mobile data works. Retail starter kits offer another route when you are comfortable completing activation yourself.
Verified Digicel locations include:
Montego Bay: Shop 14, Fairview Shopping Complex.
Kingston: Pavilion Mall, 2–4 Constant Spring Road.
Kingston: Shops 13–15, Tropical Plaza, Constant Spring Road.
Flow also has stores across Jamaica and directs customers to its store locator for the nearest branch. Select a location convenient to your accommodation, then establish its visitor-registration process before traveling there.
Store availability is particularly relevant if your arrival transfer goes directly to Negril, Ocho Rios or a resort outside the city. Decide whether a shopping stop fits that journey before choosing a local purchase as your only connection plan.
Treat an airport SIM purchase as something to arrange in advance rather than assuming a particular counter will be open and stocked. Terminal seller details, hours and prices need confirmation for the airport and arrival time you will use.
Save your accommodation address, transfer instructions and essential booking details offline before departure. If you need mobile data during the transfer, arranging an eSIM beforehand removes the need to locate a seller immediately after landing.
Bring your passport and the phone you will use. Your handset needs to be carrier-unlocked; a physical SIM also requires a compatible SIM slot.
Use this short sequence at the shop:
Request a new prepaid line. Explain that you are visiting Jamaica and state how long you need service. Existing-customer and number-porting offers may have different conditions.
Complete the operator’s registration process. Resolve the Flow TRN question before relying on a passport-only purchase.
Get the total first payment. Ask for the SIM, bundle, tax and any activation charge to be identified separately.
Establish the allowance and expiry. Distinguish general-use data from social-app benefits, and local minutes from international calls.
Review renewal and payment settings. Select the purchase method you can use and avoid assuming that an advertised recurring price applies to a one-time tourist purchase.
Test the connection before leaving. Turn off Wi-Fi, load a webpage and test a local call if calling is included. Keep the receipt and SIM packaging.
If you replace your usual physical SIM, store it safely. Keep track of which line handles mobile data and which line handles calls, especially on a dual-SIM phone.
Roafly suits a Jamaica trip where mobile data handles maps, WhatsApp, reservations and browsing, and a local phone number is unnecessary. You can arrange the connection before departure and install it over Wi-Fi without making a store visit.
The 5 GB and 10 GB packages both last 30 days and use Flow, with 4G where available. Both support top-ups and hotspot use from the purchased allowance, with no separate hotspot quota.
Useful differences from buying a local line include:
No physical SIM swap.
No ID verification for the Roafly purchase.
No automatic renewal.
Validity begins when the eSIM connects to a supported network.
Your phone must support eSIM and be carrier-unlocked. Roafly provides mobile data; ordinary calls and SMS through a Jamaican number are not included.
Select a Jamaica eSIM based on the data you expect to use away from Wi-Fi. The smaller allowance suits lighter use, while the larger option gives more room for photo sharing and hotspot sessions.

If you are still deciding between travel eSIM services, compare Jamaica eSIM plans for a broader provider comparison.
Local prepaid service remains worth considering when you need a Jamaican number, substantial calling or a much larger data allowance. The practical trade-off is the extra purchasing and registration step.
You can continue using WhatsApp with your existing registered number over another SIM’s mobile data. You do not need to use WhatsApp’s Change Number feature simply because you install a Jamaica SIM or Roafly eSIM.
Keep access to your original number if you may need to receive a verification code, particularly when changing phones or reinstalling the app.
Do not assume that a domestic Jamaica allowance includes regional roaming. Flow’s prepaid bundle terms limit the included allowances to local use, and Digicel’s tourist offers specify Jamaica coverage.
For an onward trip, check roaming for the exact plan or arrange a separate connection for the next destination.
Digicel’s weekly prepaid bundle is the clearest starting point here for heavy data use and local calling. Roafly is convenient when you want to prepare mobile data before travel, while Flow’s local service merits a store enquiry to settle visitor registration and the complete purchase total.
Roafly publishes this guide and sells the travel eSIM plans discussed above.
