India’s eSIM options differ in more than gigabytes. The network behind your plan, its expiry date and its hotspot rules can matter throughout a journey from Delhi to Rajasthan or the coast.

Roafly combines Jio network access, speeds up to 5G and 30-day data packages with hotspot sharing across your purchased allowance. Its 5 GB and 10 GB plans also have the lowest standard prices among the fixed-data options compared below, making it a strong choice for a trip lasting one to four weeks.
The useful distinction is between buying mobile data for your journey and getting an Indian phone number. Roafly handles the first; services requiring a local number may need a separate solution.
The fixed-data examples below all last 30 days, so a lower price does not hide a shorter expiry window. Holafly’s unlimited options use a different model and appear with their actual durations.
| Provider | Example plans and standard prices | Local network access | Hotspot conditions |
|---|---|---|---|
| Roafly | 5 GB: $13.90 / 30 days; 10 GB: $22.90 / 30 days | Jio; up to 5G | Use the purchased allowance; no separate hotspot quota |
| Airalo | 5 GB: $14 / 30 days; 10 GB: $24 / 30 days | Vi | Supported where the device and network allow it |
| Saily | 5 GB: $13.99 / 30 days; 10 GB: $23.99 / 30 days | Operator names not disclosed on the checked India product page | No separate hotspot restrictions stated |
| Roamless | 5 GB: $13.95 / 30 days; 10 GB: $23.95 / 30 days | Jio, Airtel and Vi/IDEA | Supported within the fixed-data allowance |
| Holafly | Unlimited: $39.50 / 7 days; $63.50 / 15 days | Airtel and Jio | 1 GB of shareable data per day; fair-use speed management applies |
Standard USD prices and network information checked on October 13, 2026, excluding coupons. Prices and terms can change. Holafly’s unlimited plans are not equivalent to the fixed-data packages.
The price gaps between the fixed-data plans are modest. Network access, expiry and the way you share data deserve more attention than a few cents saved on a 5 GB package.

Roafly’s strongest combination in India is straightforward: Jio connectivity, support up to 5G, a known prepaid cost and freedom to share your remaining data with another device.
That last point helps when a laptop needs a connection or your travel companion has run out of data. Hotspot usage comes out of the same allowance as phone usage, without a separate daily tethering quota. You can use more on a busy travel day and less while staying somewhere with dependable Wi-Fi.
There is also room to match the package to the journey. Alongside the table’s options, Roafly offers 1 GB for seven days and 3 GB or 20 GB for 30 days. Top-ups are available for an active eSIM, and validity begins when it first connects to a supported network in India.
You can select your India eSIM plan before departure and install it over Wi-Fi. No ID verification is required for the Roafly package, and the prepaid purchase does not renew automatically.

Trip length changes the Airalo comparison. Its shorter packages include 5 GB for seven days at $13 and 10 GB for seven days at $22.50. Those can fit a brief visit, but a two-week itinerary needs a longer validity window.
The 30-day prices appear in the table so you can compare equivalent durations. If your journey includes Delhi, Agra and Jaipur followed by several nights elsewhere, counting the full trip matters more than choosing the lowest displayed starting price.
The current India listing names Vi as its primary network. Older references to Jio should not be assumed to describe the package available today.
Saily keeps the fixed-data choice simple, with 1 GB for seven days and larger allowances lasting 30 days. Its 5 GB and 10 GB prices sit close to Roafly’s, and hotspot use has no separately stated restriction.
The main information gap is the network name: the checked India page does not identify its local operators. That is relevant if you are choosing a package specifically for Jio or Airtel access.
Saily also offers an optional US phone number with separate call and text plans. That is a different purchase from the data package and does not provide an Indian +91 number.
The choice with Roamless extends beyond package size. Its fixed India plans expire after 30 days, while its pay-as-you-go balance has no expiry and can be used across supported destinations.
India pay-as-you-go data costs $2.95 per GB. This can suit light or uncertain usage, particularly when India is one stop in a longer journey. Sustained use changes the calculation: consuming 10 GB at that rate costs $29.50, compared with its $23.95 fixed 10 GB package.
Roamless names Jio, Airtel and Vi/IDEA among its available Indian networks. Those disclosures provide more network choice, although actual service still depends on the location and connection.
Holafly prices its India service by trip duration. The appeal is a data allowance without a fixed total cap on the phone, particularly if you expect frequent streaming or other heavy use.
Its hotspot allowance is narrower: 1 GB per day can be shared with other devices. Someone relying on a laptop should account for that limit before buying. Holafly also permits temporary speed reductions under network fair-use policies.
The seven- and fifteen-day examples therefore belong in a different category from a 30-day fixed allowance. Decide how you will use the connection before paying for the unlimited model.

The eSIM brand handles the package, purchase and support; the local network carries the mobile connection. Roafly’s Jio access is a meaningful part of its India offer, particularly when paired with 5G support.
Independent results support Jio as a strong network choice. In nPerf’s India mobile report, covering April 2025 through March 2026, Jio and Airtel shared the leading group for average download performance across mobile technologies. Airtel led the combined performance score, which also considers other measures.
These are measurements of local mobile users, not speed tests of the travel eSIMs in this comparison. They help explain the network choice without predicting the exact speed your phone will receive.
Build your expectations around the itinerary. Delhi, Mumbai or Bengaluru involves a different connectivity question from a mountain drive or a remote stay. Download the maps, tickets and accommodation details you will need before leaving a reliable connection. Keep 5G as a useful capability rather than a requirement for every stop: maps, messaging and bookings can work well over a usable 4G connection.
Start with the activities that use the most data. Navigation and messages are usually easier to manage than video streaming, cloud backups and laptop traffic.
A short visit with light use: A small package can cover essential messaging, directions and occasional browsing if you use Wi-Fi for heavier tasks.
A week or two with regular daily use: Consider 5 GB when you will mainly use maps, messaging and browsing, with some social media.
Several stops or more frequent sharing: Consider 10 GB for extra room, especially if you expect to use hotspot or upload photos regularly.
Frequent video or laptop use: Review a larger allowance and monitor usage early. Video quality, background syncing and software updates can change consumption substantially.
These are planning starting points, not daily consumption promises. Your phone’s mobile-data settings show which apps actually use the allowance.
Duration deserves a separate check. Ten gigabytes that expires halfway through the trip will not solve the same problem as 10 GB lasting 30 days. Roafly’s 30-day options give a two- or three-week itinerary room to change without needing to fit each stop into a short package window.
Before departure, move large downloads to Wi-Fi and pause automatic photo backups over mobile data. Those small settings changes often make a fixed allowance easier to manage.
Roafly’s India eSIM is data-only. It provides internet access without adding a local phone number, traditional calls or SMS to the package.
WhatsApp can continue using your existing registered number while the eSIM supplies its internet connection. Hotel messages, booking emails and internet-based calls can therefore remain part of your usual routine.
SMS verification is a separate issue. If a service specifically requires an Indian +91 number, mobile data alone will not provide it. Keeping your home SIM active may let you receive codes sent to your existing number, subject to your carrier’s roaming arrangements and charges.
Local Indian SIM cards can provide domestic calling and a local number, but involve registration and identity checks. That may be worthwhile for a longer stay or a service you specifically need. The wider guide to mobile internet options in India explains how local SIMs, airport purchases and other connections fit together.
Complete the installation while you have a stable internet connection and time to follow the instructions.
Confirm that the phone is unlocked and supports eSIM. Compatibility can differ between regional versions of the same model.
Purchase the allowance that covers your trip. Count every day you expect to need it, including arrival and departure.
Install the eSIM over Wi-Fi. Give the line a recognisable name, such as “India data.”
On arrival, select it for mobile data and enable data roaming on that line. Follow the package’s installation instructions.
Keep data roaming off on your home line. Review automatic mobile-data switching so the phone does not unexpectedly use your home carrier for data.
Test a webpage before leaving the airport. If the connection fails, confirm the selected data line and follow the supplied APN or network instructions.
With Roafly, installing before the trip does not start the India validity period. That begins when the eSIM first connects to a supported network in India.
Yes. You can buy a Roafly India package online before travelling and install it on a compatible, unlocked device. Completing that step at home leaves fewer things to organise after arrival.
No. Roafly supports speeds up to 5G in India, but the connection also depends on local coverage, your device and its settings. The 5G label describes supported access rather than a fixed speed.
An India-only package covers India. If either country is part of your itinerary, arrange separate coverage or choose a regional product that explicitly includes every destination you will visit.
The data connection pauses when the allowance is exhausted or the package expires. You can purchase an available top-up or another suitable plan. Check the remaining balance before a long transfer so you can arrange additional data while connected.
Roafly’s combination of Jio access, support up to 5G and full-allowance hotspot sharing makes it a practical choice for exploring India with a predictable prepaid budget. Match the allowance to your daily habits, and use the 30-day validity to cover the whole journey.
