Greenland rewards a little planning before you buy mobile data. You might spend several days around Nuuk or Ilulissat, then head somewhere your phone has no signal. Paying for a larger allowance helps with uploads and hotspot use while connected; it cannot extend the network into the wilderness.
Roafly’s 3 GB plan gives you 30 days for $24.90, making it a practical starting point for a light-use trip with accommodation Wi-Fi. You get TELE Greenland 4G access, hotspot across your purchased allowance and the option to add data. Move up to 5 GB if you expect regular photo sharing, or 10 GB for heavier use.
Compare the validity alongside the allowance: a seven-day plan expires halfway through a two-week visit, even if it still has data left. Prices below are in US dollars before discount codes. The fixed-data rows cover Greenland country plans; Airalo’s row covers its unlimited series. Airalo also sells fixed-data packages.
| Provider | Package price range | Data and validity | Local network | Useful plan terms |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Roafly | $12.90–$69.90 | 1 GB / 7 days; 3, 5 or 10 GB / 30 days | TELE Greenland, 4G | Hotspot uses the full purchased allowance; top-ups available |
| Airalo — unlimited series | $24–$99 | Unlimited total data / 3–15 days; daily high-speed allowance applies | Tusass / TELE Greenland | Hotspot shares the daily allowance; speed reduces after the threshold |
| Nomad | $8–$75 | 1 GB / 7 days; 3, 5, 10 or 20 GB / 30 days | Tusass | Hotspot supported; activate within 60 days of purchase |
| Ubigi | $12–$49 | 1 GB / 7 days; 3 GB / 15 days; 10 GB / 30 days | Tusass | Reusable eSIM profile, data sharing and in-app top-ups |
| aloSIM | $9 | 1 GB / 7 days | TELE Greenland, LTE | Small fixed allowance for a short visit |
TELE Greenland and Tusass refer to the same national operator. The shared network name makes package size, validity and usage conditions especially useful comparison points.

Roafly suits a trip where you want mobile data for town days, bookings, messaging and occasional sharing between Wi-Fi connections. Its smaller 30-day packages let you buy for the amount you expect to use without squeezing the whole visit into a week.
The 3 GB plan costs $24.90 for 30 days. That is only $0.90 more than Ubigi’s 3 GB country plan, with twice its 15-day validity. The extra time is useful if you are staying longer than two weeks or want more flexibility around your itinerary.
The 5 GB package costs $39.90, while 10 GB costs $69.90; both last 30 days. Hotspot draws from the same allowance as your phone, with no separate tethering quota. You can share a connection with a tablet or laptop and top up if your needs change.
Roafly’s validity starts when the eSIM first connects to a supported network in Greenland. Install before departure over a reliable internet connection, then use it for mobile data on arrival. Compare the Greenland eSIM plans against your trip length and likely usage before choosing your allowance.

Airalo’s unlimited series offers a different way to budget for a short trip: select a duration and use data subject to a daily high-speed allowance. Seven days costs $45, while the available durations run from three to 15 days.
Under Airalo’s unlimited fair-use policy, the default allowance is 3 GB per 24-hour period, followed by 1 Mbps until the next reset. Its unlimited-plan information describes the initial allowance at up to 20 Mbps. Hotspot use counts toward the same allowance.
This model can suit frequent uploads during a short stay in covered areas. Compare it with Airalo’s fixed-data options if most of your time will be spent away from mobile service or you only need occasional access.
Nomad offers the widest fixed-data range in this table, reaching 20 GB for 30 days. Its 10 GB plan costs $41, compared with Roafly’s $69.90 for the same allowance and validity. That is a substantial saving if price is your main criterion.
Tusass access and hotspot support are included. Nomad requires activation within 60 days of purchase, after which the plan activates automatically, so time the purchase appropriately if you book your Greenland trip far ahead.
Existing Ubigi users can keep their eSIM profile and purchase another data plan, which is convenient if they already use the service on other trips. The Greenland country packages shown here span one week to 30 days, and support data sharing.
Ubigi’s Smartstart activates the plan at the destination. Its app also supports recharging without Wi-Fi or remaining data credit, although your device still needs a connection to a supported mobile network.
aloSIM’s Greenland offer is a straightforward 1 GB package lasting seven days. It uses TELE Greenland LTE and fits a short visit where maps, messages and occasional browsing are the main mobile tasks.
The small allowance needs more attention if you upload photos or share data with another device. Longer trips are better served by comparing the larger allowances and validity periods elsewhere in the table.
Nuuk, Ilulissat and Sisimiut are sensible places to expect everyday mobile access around inhabited areas. You can use data for booking updates, directions and contacting people while exploring town. Tusass serves towns and settlements across Greenland, but those pockets of coverage do not form a continuous connection through the landscape between them.
Boat excursions, fjords and remote accommodation change the calculation. Download the day’s tickets, meeting details and maps before leaving town. During a cruise, treat your Greenland eSIM as a connection for covered shore stops; onboard internet is a separate service.
Experience close to a town can also differ from a walk farther out. In her November 2025 account of using a Tusass eSIM, Greenland Tours specialist Selina Rustler described good connections on many walks around Nuuk, Ilulissat and Kangerlussuaq, but no mobile network at Eqi Glacier Lodge. That is a useful example of how quickly the setting can change, based on one trip with a local Tusass eSIM.
The practical choice is to buy enough data for the connected parts of your itinerary and prepare offline material for the rest. Keep work calls and large uploads for a town or accommodation connection rather than scheduling them during an excursion.
Nuuk also has Tuullik, a separate local 4G data service. Its footprint is limited to Nuuk and includes indoor coverage gaps. It is a different proposition from the Tusass-based plans in the table, particularly if your route continues to Ilulissat or other towns.
Start with what you will do while connected. Map checks and messages use your allowance differently from uploading a day’s photos, making long video calls or tethering a laptop.
These are useful starting points for Roafly’s 30-day packages:
3 GB: light browsing, booking messages and maps, with most photo uploads and video use handled over accommodation Wi-Fi.
5 GB: more frequent mobile use and photo sharing during a week or two around towns.
10 GB: heavier sharing, occasional laptop use or more time relying on mobile data instead of Wi-Fi.
Longer validity does not increase the allowance. Roafly’s 3 GB plan can remain active throughout a month-long visit, but you would still need to manage those 3 GB or add more.
Before departure, download offline maps and entertainment, and pause automatic photo backups over mobile data. Laptop operating-system updates can also consume a sizeable part of a travel package, so control them before enabling hotspot.
Avoid buying 10 GB solely because your trip lasts two weeks. If most days involve excursions and your hotel connection handles the large uploads, a smaller allowance with enough validity can be the more useful purchase.
Roafly provides data without a local phone number. Messaging and internet calls work through apps such as WhatsApp using your existing account, which may be enough for keeping in touch.
Direct calls to local businesses are a different requirement. Tusass’s Hello Greenland is a tourist prepaid product available as an eSIM or physical SIM, with a Greenlandic number, mobile data, and calls and texts within Greenland. It works only in Greenland.
Hello Greenland has a fixed validity period. Extra data can replenish the allowance, but it does not extend that period; you need a new plan after expiry. Compare that condition with your length of stay if you want a local number for the whole visit.
Keep the contact number attached to your travel bookings reachable. If you switch to a Greenlandic number, tell the operator handling your trip. Leaving your home SIM active can preserve access to the original number, but its call and SMS charges remain governed by your home provider’s roaming terms.
Set up the eSIM while you have dependable Wi-Fi, rather than leaving the download until you need to find a transfer or read an arrival message.
Confirm compatibility and carrier unlocking. Check your exact phone against the eSIM-compatible devices, including any regional model differences.
Install the Roafly profile. Use the QR code or manual details supplied with your purchase. The guide to installing an eSIM on iPhone walks through the iOS process.
Follow the instructions for your device. The Android installation steps cover the alternative setup route; menu names depend on your phone.
Select Roafly for mobile data in Greenland. Enable the eSIM and its data-roaming setting. The plan’s validity begins with its first connection to a supported network there.
Keep home-SIM data roaming off. Make sure the Greenland eSIM is the selected data line, even if you keep your home number active for calls or messages.
If the profile is installed but data does not work, first check the selected mobile-data line and the Roafly line’s roaming setting. You also need to be within mobile coverage. Contact Roafly support if the connection still fails.
Only if Greenland is explicitly included in that package’s destination list. Denmark coverage alone is insufficient. Roafly’s Europe package includes Denmark and Iceland but excludes Greenland, so the Greenland part of the trip needs its own supported plan.
It can work near covered towns and during shore visits. Do not plan on continuous service at sea or throughout remote fjords. Check your cruise’s onboard internet separately, and download excursion details before leaving a connection.
Yes. Roafly’s Greenland package covers use in both towns through TELE Greenland, subject to local reception. You do not need separate town packages. Nuuk-only services such as Tuullik have a narrower footprint.
Start with 3 GB for light use supported by accommodation Wi-Fi, or 5 GB if you expect more regular photo sharing and mobile browsing. Consider 10 GB for heavier use or hotspot. Pick a validity period that covers all 14 days.
Yes. Tusass’s Hello Greenland tourist eSIM includes a local number and domestic calls and texts. Roafly’s Greenland eSIM is data-only, so it suits app-based communication rather than a requirement for a Greenlandic number.
Tusass lists 5G availability in several Greenlandic towns, including Nuuk, Ilulissat and Sisimiut. Roafly’s Greenland package supports 4G. Buy according to the technology included in your actual package, rather than assuming the local network’s full capabilities are included.
Roafly’s 3 GB, 30-day plan is a practical starting point for a town-based visit with light mobile use. Choose 5 GB if sharing photos is part of each day, or 10 GB if you expect to use hotspot more often. Purchase your allowance before departure, install over Wi-Fi, and keep the essential trip details downloaded for the days beyond mobile coverage.
