Landing at Algiers Houari Boumediene Airport? Knowing which terminal to look in matters as much as choosing a mobile operator. This guide separates documented airport outlets, published local offers and the practical alternative of setting up an eSIM before departure.

Algiers Airport has documented mobile-operator outlets, including Djezzy’s Terminal 4 location. Buying locally suits visitors who want an Algerian number and calls; preparing an eSIM before departure suits those who mainly need data and want to avoid a shop stop.
Start with your arrival terminal. Operator records use both numbered terminals and names such as “Alger Ouest,” so a reference to an airport shop is not enough to establish that it is beside your exit.
| Option | Location or access | What to know before choosing |
|---|---|---|
| Djezzy airport outlet | Terminal 4, central hall, in Djezzy’s store directory | A documented airport option; ask for the prepaid offer available to a visitor with your passport. |
| Ooredoo airport kiosk | Algiers West airport kiosk in an earlier official outlet list | Useful as a location lead; current counter position, stock and opening hours need confirmation. |
| Official city store | Algiers branches, including Djezzy at Place Audin and Bab Ezzouar shopping centre | Practical if you already have data or can wait until reaching the city. |
| Roafly eSIM | Purchased online and installed on a compatible, unlocked phone | Data-only service; no airport shop visit or physical SIM replacement. |
Outlet information checked on 23 October 2026. Current airport price not reliably published. Hours not reliably published; a terminal remaining open overnight does not establish that its SIM counters do.
After completing arrival formalities, ask the information desk for the nearest open mobile-operator counter in your terminal. An airside SIM-sales option for passengers staying in international transit could not be verified.
Djezzy’s official store directory identifies its new international-airport outlet at “Terminal 04, Hall Central.” Use that terminal and hall description when asking for directions.
The directory also contains another Algiers airport entry with inconsistent national/international wording. Terminal 4 is the clearer location reference; neither entry provides a dependable current opening schedule.
Ooredoo’s earlier promotional outlet list names an “AEROPORT INTERNATIONAL ALGER OUEST” kiosk and another international-airport kiosk. These records support asking for an Ooredoo counter, but they are not a live stock or opening-hours feed.
If an Ooredoo counter is open in your terminal, its published prepaid starter offer gives you a useful price benchmark before paying.
Ooredoo 500 has a published acquisition price of 500 DZD, including the SIM and its initial bundle. The bundle provides:
5 GB of mobile data.
Four weeks of validity.
Unlimited calls to Ooredoo numbers, subject to reasonable-use conditions.
500 DZD of credit for domestic calls and SMS.
This is a verified national offer, not an observed Algiers Airport checkout price. The operator’s offer was checked on 23 October 2026.
At the airport, ask for the complete amount payable for a new line with your chosen bundle. Establish whether the quote includes the SIM, initial allowance and any additional service charge, then get a receipt identifying the offer.
Comparing only the data allowance can be misleading: a new-line starter package and an add-on for an existing SIM are different purchases. Likewise, there is no verified basis here for assuming that an airport counter always charges more than a city store.
Bring your original, valid passport. Ooredoo’s prepaid purchase instructions explicitly accept a valid identity document or passport at an Ooredoo shop or authorised outlet.
Other operators may use different registration procedures. Present your passport before selecting a bundle and ask the seller to establish your eligibility for that particular offer. Keep your accommodation address available in case it is needed during registration.
Have Algerian dinars available as a payment backup. International-card acceptance could not be verified for each airport counter, so relying on a foreign bank card alone may leave you unable to complete the purchase. Before travelling with cash, review Algeria’s customs and currency rules.
Before leaving the counter:
Ask the employee to activate the purchased bundle and show its allowance and expiry.
Turn off Wi-Fi and open a webpage using the new SIM.
Test a local call if calling is part of your purchase.
Keep the receipt, SIM packaging and PIN/PUK information.
Your phone must be carrier-unlocked and support the SIM format being sold. Some phones have no physical SIM tray, so establish compatibility before paying.
Buying in the city makes sense when you already have a working connection, your airport counter is closed, or you want more time to discuss the available offers.
Djezzy has a branch at 23 Rue Didouche Mourad, Place Audin, and another inside the Bab Ezzouar shopping and leisure centre. These provide concrete alternatives to searching for an unspecified reseller after landing. Pick a branch that fits your accommodation or onward journey.
The reason to wait is convenience or offer availability, rather than a guaranteed saving. Compare the same starter package and allowance before deciding that one location is cheaper.
Our guide to buying a local SIM in Algeria covers the wider prepaid options and registration questions. If you are still deciding between local SIMs, roaming and other methods, compare the main internet options in Algeria.
Roafly’s Algeria eSIM lets you prepare mobile data before travelling, so you can leave the airport without finding a SIM counter.
The Algeria plans support Mobilis and Ooredoo, with 4G/5G access depending on your location, device and network conditions. Hotspot sharing uses your purchased allowance, and top-ups are available.
Roafly provides data only, with no Algerian phone number or standard cellular calls and SMS. That makes it suited to maps, bookings and internet-based communication; a local SIM remains useful when you specifically need an Algerian number.
Install the eSIM over a reliable internet connection before departure. Select it for mobile data on arrival and follow its roaming instructions, while keeping data roaming disabled on your home line to avoid unintended home-carrier data charges.

Current official Wi-Fi access conditions—including the network name, login requirements, session limits and any fees—could not be reliably established for this guide.
Ask the airport information desk which network to use. Before flying, save your accommodation address, pickup instructions and an offline map so that your transfer does not depend on getting online inside the terminal.
Wi-Fi can help with a message or booking check while you are at the airport; you will still need another connection after leaving its coverage.
Can I buy a SIM if I land late at night?
Do not base a late arrival on finding an open counter. Reliable current shop hours are unavailable. Prepare an eSIM or a suitable home-carrier roaming option beforehand, or arrange your pickup and save the details offline.
Is 500 DZD the confirmed airport SIM price?
No. It is Ooredoo’s published national acquisition price for its named starter offer. The airport counter’s current stock, offer and final checkout amount still need confirmation.
Can I buy a local SIM without leaving the transit area?
An airside sales point could not be verified. If you are remaining in international transit, plan your connection without assuming access to the airport’s public shopping areas.
Which option is most practical for a short visit?
Roafly is practical when mobile data is your priority and you want to arrange it before departure. Buying locally is worth considering when an Algerian number, cellular calls or a particular prepaid allowance matters more than avoiding the airport counter.
