When should I install my eSIM?

Timing is everything when it comes to your eSIM. Here is the golden rule for a stress-free connection:

1. Install BEFORE you travel (Highly Recommended) You should install your Roafly eSIM on your phone 1 to 2 days before your trip, while you are still at home or at the airport.

  • Why? Installing an eSIM requires a stable Wi-Fi connection. You don't want to arrive in a foreign country without internet and try to find public Wi-Fi just to install your plan.

  • Will it start consuming my data? No! Installing the eSIM profile does not activate your data plan.

2. Activate AFTER you arrive Your data plan's validity period (e.g., 7 Days or 30 Days) only begins when the eSIM connects to the local mobile network at your destination.

  • When you land: Simply turn on your Roafly eSIM in your phone settings and enable Data Roaming for that specific line. You will connect instantly.

A Quick Exception: Regional or Global Plans If you bought a Regional (e.g., Europe) or Global plan and you are currently in one of the covered countries, your plan will activate and start counting down the moment you install and turn it on.

Summary:

  • Install: At home, with good Wi-Fi.

  • Turn On (Activate): When your plane lands.
